For starters, it’s a good, solid, serial killer show
Plot
A TV series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to portray Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 film sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the titular character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which blew up at the box office and caused Lionsgate to cancel the previously planned sequel Double Cross.
So I’ll get that out of the way
However, I think it’s the poor cousin of the British Luther with Idris Elba. Both he and Cross are noted for having exceptional psychological analysis skills.
With Cross you don’t
With Luther you get that. There are only two times in 8 episodes where he does the whole "Spideysense" thing and gives analysis that others just don’t see.
And the final point is Yasia Mustafa
Then there’s the insubstantial acting of some of the great actors. Their scenes just don’t live up to the great acting of the main characters.
Nice show, but I think Luther does it better
In this show, he’s the embodiment of Andy Farrell, the coach of the Irish rugby team. One is black and the other is white, but boy, is the resemblance uncanny!
