I have to agree with many other reviewers, this is a great production with good atmosphere, and Eddie Redmayne does a great job as the Jackal, but the female lead is a letdown. It’s a complete misfire, using an actor who can’t show any facial emotion no matter the situation and almost borders on overacting, perhaps trying to compensate for a lack of understanding or appreciation for the character. The character is obviously meant to be confident and experienced, but the portrayal is of one of those cocky “I know best” women who, for example, don’t appreciate evidence walking around the office with a suitcase. She’s so irritable and unbelievable.
